The Mt Hotham Racing Squad
(Team Hotham), founded in 1972 is a non-profit organisation. Our
primary mandate is to train young athletes in all disciplines of
skiing and snowboarding. Our squad has a member base of
approximately 200. Our membership varies from local school children
to business professionals and we have members aged from 4 years to
over 70. Our squad is based in the Victorian Alps at the Mt Hotham
Ski Resort, arguably some of the best ski racing terrain in
Australia.
Team Hotham is the
perfect place to develop your ski and snowboard racing skills. The
club is run by an elected volunteer committee and independently
functions toward the development of athletes of all ages.
The club has developed the reputation as one of the leading race
training organisations in Australia. Our guiding principle is "To
promote, encourage and foster competitive snow sports".
Team Hotham, via
squad programs is working to develop racers from the youngest age
group up to elite FIS standard competition. Our primary goal is to
prepare young athletes mentally, physically & technically to the
level that they may compete for national selection & hopefully
Olympic selection.
The club is very
proud of Jane Sexton, yet another of Australia’s Olympians who
achieved freestyle selection for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
Jane’s performance and attitude is a credit to Mt Hotham, the race
squad & Australia.
The club also
welcomes skiers of all ages who have a personal desire to take their
skiing to the next level, via its competitive masters programs and
racer entry level programs. School holiday programs have also been
specifically designed to give school-aged children the range of
skills necessary to achieve success in their inter-schools
competitions.
If you are a serious
racer, thinking of becoming one or simply want to further develop
your talents, then Team Hotham has the program for you.
As a member of the
club, you will benefit in many ways beyond the ski day. The club is
very social, open & friendly and you will be mixing with &
developing friendships with many like-minded people. You may also
access club facilities, events & promotions.
