Hotham Heroes – Part Time Plus

The Hotham Heroes Ski Program Part-Time Plus Program is specifically designed for athletes 2017, 2018 and 2019 born, the program runs from Friday to Sunday each week and has 32 days of on-snow and dryland training.
The Hotham Heroes program is ideal for athletes who have outgrown the ski school’s Advanced – Lyrebird or Kangaroo* programs (levels 5 or 6), and are looking to develop their skills in a fun, challenging and safe environment. Team Hotham introduces the athletes to enthusiastic and experienced coaches in a skills-based program that focuses on fun and skill-based games. This is where the journey of snow sports skills for life begins!
Building the Passion
U8 athletes will learn the basics of strong skiing and build skills and friendships that will last a lifetime.
The goal is to develop passionate young skiers who are able to handle all snow conditions anytime on the mountain.Â
- bumps;
- drills;
- tucking and jumping;
- Ski fundamentals;
- short turns, big turns, no turns;
- one ski skiing (skiers)
- confidently handle flat and steep terrain; and
- introduction to gate training.
The U8 athletes will do a little bit of everything in a challenging, safe, confidence-boosting and fun environment.
Maximum Age Level Enrolment
- 18 athletes (4 groups of 6)
Minimum ability
- Athletes should be confidently skiing parallel on all blue terrain and moving toward steeper terrain.
- *Athletes who have passed the minimum requirements of Lyrebird (Level 5) or Kangaroo (Level 6) (or equivalent level at another ski school) can join Team Hotham. See below for check list of skills.Â
- Able to load on chairs with some assistance
- Prior race training experience is NOT necessary!
Lyrebird (Level 5) Requirements (Tick Box Checklist)
- I can confidently ski down blue terrain in a basic christie or parallel.
- I am actively matching my skis to parallel throughout my turns.
- I am ready to refine my turn shape and size to progress to steeper black terrain.
- I can vary my turn size and speed.
- I may begin exploring basic terrain park skills.
Kangaroo (Level 6) Requirements (Tick Box Checklist)
- I can confidently ski parallel down all blue terrain.
- I am confidently linking turns down black runs.
- I am refining my technique to ride faster down steeper terrain.
- I am exploring the entire mountain.
- I am learning advanced techniques to manage speed on steep terrain.
*Official Team Hotham Jacket must be purchased from the club for $350. Athlete wears own black ski pants.
